Tank container

A direct legacy of Arnal’s founding business, tank cleaning remains a technical trade in its own right. Operators organise the work, apply industrial cleaning procedures, monitor the quality of the cleaning, label the tanks and ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements.

Cleaning and maintenance / tank container repairs

At Arnal, we provide internal cleaning services for tank containers used to transport chemicals and foodstuffs, in compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements. Our services include, in particular:

  • internal cleaning of tank containers
  • rinsing and re-cleaning
  • cleanliness checks in accordance with EFTCO / EFTCO Food standards
  • leak tests; maintenance and repair work, and periodic testing (every 2.5 and 5 years)
  • shot blasting / painting

Our teams follow strict procedures to ensure a level of cleanliness that meets our clients’ requirements and regulatory standards, whilst ensuring operator safety and environmental protection. They carry out maintenance work ranging from minor repairs to modifications.

Technical excellence at the heart of our operations

OSV Test

Checking the leak-tightness of safety and drainage components (valves, check valves, seals and connections) by pressurising the tank to 25 per cent of its working pressure. This test may be carried out during the initial inspection, during statutory periodic inspections (at 2.5 and 5 years) or at the customer’s request prior to loading.

5-year test – Hydraulic test

A statutory inspection involving the removal of the tank’s fittings, sealing the openings with solid flanges, then filling the tank completely with water before subjecting it to a pressure equal to 1.5 times its working pressure. This test verifies the mechanical strength of the tank and detects any potential leaks. It is carried out by qualified technicians in the presence of an approved body such as BV or DNV.

SA 2.5 Shot Blasting

Surface treatment using high-pressure metal abrasive blasting to remove impurities, prepare substrates and ensure optimum adhesion of subsequent coatings (paints, plastic or rubber coatings). The operations are carried out in accordance with the SA 2.5 standard.

Spare parts management

The central warehouse manages the procurement, quality control, storage and traceability of parts required for repairs and maintenance work on tankers and containers. Each part is catalogued and identified by a barcode to ensure the tracking of assemblies, inter-site transfers and international customer shipments.
